I’ll start here by speaking my annoyance with this setup. You can get up to 8 modules in one instance, and even when the rack is maxed out, there is still a pretty minimal CPU load, though oddly enough I have seen the Hard Drive meter max directly after pressing stop on a session, which is odd to see that on a Solid State Drive, it has not translated into any real world problems. You drag a module from the left of the GUI to the right, where it then becomes active. Operation is fairly straight forward and intuitive. As I write this now there are actually 8 different modules that operate directly inside of VMR. So… What Steven Slate has done with VMR is create 5 new plugins that work inside of a 500 series rack. Honestly, I’ll probably end up doing a review of all of his plug-ins for better or worse. In fact, the majority of the plugins Slate has released I’ve gotten quite a bit of usage out of for a fairly minimal investment, and the Virtual Mix Rack (aka. I’ve been using that for over 5 years so I’d say I’m getting my moneys worth out of it. I’ve been a fan of the Steven Slate products since I bought his drum sample library for Kontakt, and got the corresponding Drumagog samples for about 150$ back in early 2010.
